Webinar Addresses the Difference Between Functional Operation and Professional Management

On June 4th, Interact Solutions and Interact Evolution brought together more than 100 registrants for the webinar “The Difference Between Functional Operation and Professional Management.

The online event featured Edson Oliveira Campos Junior, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, an MBA in Processes and Quality Management, and is a specialist in Higher Education Teaching. Edson serves as an administrative manager with over 20 years of executive experience in the market and 15 years as a results-driven consultant.

Rodrigo Meister, who participated as moderator, is the Director of Interact Evolution and has extensive experience in Quality Management and Accreditation, Human Resources, Team Leadership, Leadership Development, and Project Management. Meister also works as a professor at prestigious institutions such as Ibmec and Ietec, sharing his expertise in courses on Operations Management and Governance.

The central discussion focused on how to identify the differences between Functional Operation and Professional Management, a topic of great importance for transforming the future of companies. On this occasion, the speaker reflected on how the professionalization of a business begins: with awareness. It is a process that permeates organizational culture, business processes, leadership, and strategic planning.

“When we evaluate, companies that are truly successful today have very well-established management rituals,” Edson emphasized, highlighting that change starts with culture.

Edson also quoted William Deming—statistician, university professor, and considered one of the fathers of management—to clarify that it is essential to measure your results; otherwise, it will not be possible to manage the business efficiently and professionally.

“You can’t manage what you don’t measure, you can’t measure what you don’t define, you can’t define what you don’t understand, and there is no success in what you don’t manage.” —William E. Deming.

At the end of the session, Rodrigo and Edson answered questions and addressed participants’ doubts regarding the professionalization of their businesses and operations.
